It is on Tuesday starting from 7:00 pm to 10 pm, reach early to register. It is on first come first serve basis. Sing, play instruments, comedy, poetry.
It does
Great coffee service, live music. Love this place
We stopped in after dinner. Place was a ghost town. The tea was very good and the staff was friendly and helpful. Then it started filing up...open mike night. Turns into a very happening place. The two gray hair guys had to go
Good food and coffee. Quick service. Great spot for a bite
It's a self service cafe. Nothing special. The pie with cream was fresh and delicious but the cappuccino wasn't hot. Decoration is nice but very old. There were some people with laptops, that they use this as an office.
The cafe has sort of a wood-paneled "old fashioned" feel, though popular, I think, with local students. Tomato-mozzarella baguettes are good (request to heat up for best taste), cappuccinos are on the dark and full-bodied side. Good environment for studying.
First time at this location. The spot itself is small in my opinion. Came during a Sunday afternoon and it was quite packed. Good thing I only came for coffee to go. Sundays are great since street meter parking is free. Otherwise, I can see how parking can be difficult. Coffee was great, I got a pullover and wife got spanish coffee. Definitely will try again, perhaps the smorgasburg location.
Great coffee, excellent service and some talented musicians. Definitely worth popping in
Great staff, check out the beers and hot drinks. Pastries are a hitt or miss.
People here is way too to nice like they want my money. They smile when I come in and smile when I leave. I guessed they are happy that I have freed up WiFi connection. People have a nervous chuckle while am doing open-mic night as I am sweating like a pig running thru asea of lions. If you don’t find this funny...u don’t have a soul 🤪
I like their coffee. I enjoyed how smooth my late were even I added an extra shot. staffs are interesting. it's a tiny place for couple hours of work with a cup of good coffee
I'll start by saying that the customer service was great.. the staff were very nice. The food and general service was very poor. Coffee wasn't great and definitely over priced, as well as the sandwich I had being stale and old... and over priced. Overall... if there's nothing else around you can come here for a small meal but... if you have other options I suggest you take them.
Friendly place, but isn’t every where in America. Simple but good. It’s also attached to an old school tobacconist which adds a nice quirky element.
Overpriced drinks. They have a really comfortable atmosphere although it's a tad cramped.
A quiet hole in the wall coffee shop. Perfect place to relax and chill to study or hand out with friends. Great customer service and interesting layout. Can get hot if you're on the second floor though. More chinese oriented drinks.
I purchased the champagne cake. It was underwhelming for the cost. Friendly service though and nice ambiance.
Good local cafe open late they have open mics on weeknights, sometimes comedy other times music. Only real complaint is that the baristas are very slow.
The open mics are great here. Welcoming and comfortable vibe during open mics.
Great coffee shop. House blend is smooth and mellow. Plenty of space to work and hang out. There is even an upstairs area with a huge skylight.
Tasty food, very good drinks, nice staff and a pleasant atmosphere. I really like the loft seating! It's slightly pricey, but the portions are pretty good, especially the paninis! Be careful asking for the stuffed croissants, though... Mine was tasty, but still kind of cold in the middle. I'll be back for the drinks, though!
Clean place, nice staff, owner is a cool guy - hope it's still the original owner. All kinds of good food and coffee/tea.
Absolutely fantastic Americano and baked goods. Went here every single day of our vacation for coffee and breakfast, or just a snack and a quiet place to sit. Proximity to the major hotels (sharing the block with the Westin) means it's a quick easy walk around the corner if you're staying downtown.Staff were bright and cheerful every single time we went, and appeared genuinely happy to chat while they prepared your order. (Assuming you weren't holding up a line!) We never got a cold reception, even when we rudely showed up only 10 minutes before they closed. (Sorry!) They maintained composure and made sure we were all set with our orders before closing up for the night. The limited seating could be a negative if you're intending to bring a big group, but it's manageable. Honestly even at their busiest the whole place maintained the cozy coffee shop vibe.
The first we went here was fine. The second time was even better. Every time I come here they always have something new to offer. Whenever I am inside this coffee shop, I feel relaxed. All the staff is easy to approach and always make sure that their clients are satisfied with their service. I will always recommend them to my friends and relatives.
I love coming here for the open mic nights! it's such a supportive community!
It’s so nice comfortable cafe. I strongly recommend cappuccino and Italian foods are great.
I love a great old, old-skool espresso cafe. I stop by anytime I'm in the area even if I fight for parking. Reminds me of life before Starbucks became the one cup to rule us all.Only thing to note, this place is so awesome they'll serve the coffee in ceramic unless you specify to-go.
FRIENDLY SERVICE ! My wife and I were back in San Jose for a couple of days last Monday. After jumping in our rental SUV at the airport we headed over here for a light lunch before checking in to our Hilton Hotel suite a few miles away. It was great to see smiling Mark behind the service counter and he remembered us from a few weeks ago. I ordered 2 lattes with 2% milk and hazelnut syrup ( they use Torani syrup here ) plus a Ham & Brie Sandwich ( it was pre-made ). Mark offered to warm up the sandwich but we settled for au naturel. Our hot lattes were ready in short time as was the sandwich which we shared. We sat at the elevated table in front of the big street facing window. Our lattes tasted very good and the sandwich tasted fresh. This is a good cafe with decent food /drinks and friendly staff !
Great menu selection for quick bites and beverage. Hip and cozy atmosphere. Definitely a place worth checking out and one I plan on returning to.
Lovely live show every friday ! Inlove going there sitting down drink an africano
This place gets busy! I came here on a Sunday afternoon thinking I would find a nice spot to work at but this place was packed, for a good reason too! I ordered an almond milk cap and an almond ring and got to work! The staff was really nice and my drink and the sugar from my huge pastry kept me going haha! I need to come back here for one of their poetry nights!
This place is adorable!! It's great for studying. I love all the natural light that comes in and it's also very spacious.
It has a cozy, rustic feel. Espresso is specially aromatic rich dark.
What a gem! Super relaxing place, live violin music, and excellent espresso. It almost feels like in Italy - it doesn't get more authentic than that. There is a lot of seating including outdoor seating. They also have snacks and salads and solid beer in the evening.
A place with a character! I love their coffee.
Coffee is real. Unlike Starbucks. Comedy night are okay also because is too packed up
Love the open mics on Thursday nights, the pastry selection they have, and the wonderful service!
The place looks great and had a cool feel to it. The coffee was good too. The service was bad though. They were open and I think they were eating breakfast when I walked in. The person that helped me seemed annoyed she had to get up to help me. No greeting or smile. She probably should of had a cup of coffee. The raspberry something looks good but was super sugary and Dry.
Walked here from the Marriott downtown skipping the lobby Starbucks looking for something with more character. Walked into Caffe and it was different. Felt dirty. Chairs are worn. Counters the same. Finishes and paint peeling. Anyway not enthused at first. Got a blueberry muffin and coffee. Muffin was not baked. Raw cake/dough in the middle. Didn’t finish. Had a coffee. Very forgettable. Except the part where it was merely lukewarm. I will remember that. Coffee had very little flavor. Overall disappointed. There’s a reason why there are national chains. You know what you’ll get, which is nice. Maybe try the open mic night but don’t go for coffee or muffins.
I like this coffee shop. It's pretty fresh and the make great non-coffee drinks. I like their hot chocolate a lot. The venue is also host to many events including open mic nights and cinequest meet ups. I want to say that this place is a good study spot, but it gets loud and would not recommend it. Potentially a good date place since they also sell beer and cigars next door.
Ideal place to get some work done while enjoying a coffee or tea pick-me-up in San Jose. The industrial, open concept decor, and communal workspace has a cool vibe.
The most authentic and one of the oldest coffee shops on downtown. Second floor is good for working and studying. They have nice programs like a poetry night, comedy night and a local music night during the week.
Staple of Dt San Jose. Coffee is usually good. They have open mic nights that I've seen. Singers are normally pretty good. Stand-up acts usually are a miss, but still entertaining. Staff is cool.
I had an hour to spend while waiting for my next activity and needed a space to enjoy a cup of tea and get a little work done. This was the perfect spot! Good food/drink, service, and atmosphere. As a fan of The Office and Parks and Recreation, I loved seeing the photos of Asiz Ansari and Creed. :)
Cozy cafe. Tiramisu was nice. Spinach quiche and latte were also good. I wouldn't rate this place highly for the quality of food. But then it is a good enough place and am sure that you wouldn't be disappointed.I went early in the evening around 5pm, so there was no live music that time.
Very spacious that you don’t need to worry about not having a seat. Nice environment and good taste of the coffee. They even have a piano for customers to play. Love the place.
Very appetizing. I had a brother come into town and asked me to take him back here. This place has a good feel to it.
Cozy Cafe. Check on days when they have music. Every first Friday of the month they have opera, which I really enjoyed.
had a nice time performing there for their last open mic
The open mic and poetry nights give downtown San Jose a unique note. Come to work in a friendly space and stay for the warm community of artists and writers.
I have been in this Italian-style café for a lunch with a friend and I must say we enjoyed it. The sandwiches are good and the decor and the restaurant are very nice. The service was quick and polite but they didn't take the order at the table. With a few new ideas, I think this place has the potential to improve. it is a little firm in the past, it should be renewed
This is a casual little coffee shop and cafe. They carry darker roasted coffee (Italian style). I had a cappuccino which was quite nice; fluffy foam, and bold flavor. I had an eclair which was quite different than any I've had before. I travel the world and have had them in Paris, Amsterdam, Boston, San Francisco, and Baltimore and typically they taste pretty similar from place to place. At this location the custard was a bit more dry and thick. It also had a citrus (sour) flavor to the custard which was quite unexpected. The breading and chocolate were nice and quiet normal, the custard was just different. Might keep that in mind when visiting and choosing a dessert. The staff was friendly and the out door seating is nice.
